New in town? Discover Groningen with a guided tour!

17 aug New in town? Discover Groningen with a guided tour!

Every year in August and September thousands of new foreign students arrive in Groningen to study at the Rijksuniversiteit (RUG) or Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Hanze). And this year, again, in record numbers!

First of all – welcome to Groningen! We bet you are excited about this new experience and we hope you’ll fall in love with the city – just like we did!

Choosing Groningen was the right decision. Not only for the top notch education you’ll get here, but also for the city itself. Groningen is the student city of the Netherlands. One in four people walking the streets is a student. You could argue the whole innercity is a giant campus with a buzzing nightlife.

And there is so much more: history, art, architecture, war, peace, drama, and – o yeah – lots and lots of hidden courtyards. And the best and coolest way to discover Groningen, is by taking a guided tour with one of our professional tour guides.

Yes, a guided tour can be cool, fun and interesting!

Wait a minute? Cool guided tours?

Yes – we want to not only inform you, but also entertain you! This mean you’ll learn a lot about the city and it will be fun. That’s a promise! Our guides are fluent in English and German.

We will walk you through the Middle Ages, the Dutch Golden Age and the Second World War to the modern day city Groningen is today. In less than two hours you’ll know more about Groningen than many of the native Groningers.

If you like, we can also let you taste Groningen! A walking dinner is a great way to explore Groningen and taste the best food the city has on offer. We have selected the best restaurants and eateries.

Sounds like fun? Do you want to make your experience here even more memorable? Send us an e-mail at contact@stadsgidsgroningen.nl and we will gladly tell you about all the possibilities.

We hope to see you soon!
